Toyota Repair: 1987 toyota supra!, EGR, valve


Question
i recently purchased a 1987 toyota supra
and when ever i am driving it dies.
it does not matter what speed im
going it just shuts of. It starts right on
up if you leave it alone for a minute.
we thought it might be the battery but
it starts up just fine. it just dies when were
driving. also we can leave it running in the driveway
and it will stay running the whole time.
it just dies when were driving!

please help me!!!
i love this car i just wish it was working!

I ran into a similar problem with my '85 Celica.  It would drive for about three miles then would die; yet it would idle for hours in the driveway.
It turned out that the pipe on the egr valve was plugged with carbon.  I replaced the whole egr valve and piping and now it runs great.
