Toyota Repair: 1996 toyota camry 2.2L wagon, manual, clutch, transmission

Question
Hi Vince, I recently bought a "96 toyota camry 2.2L wagon, manual" I'm worried about a "shuddering" when i depress the clutch after chenging gears. its most evident in 1st and reverse, but happens all the way to about 4th gear. there's 246000 km on the clock but she does have a full service history. in the last 2 years its only done about 3000km in and out of town, it drives perfectly when in gear, it only shudders when i depress the clutch. Have you any ideas what might be causing this?

Answer
Yes, and the news is not good.  It sounds like a problem between the engine / transmission interface.  It could be a warped / damaged flywheel or pressure plate, bad clucth springs or bearings, etc.  You will need to go to a reputable transmission mechanic (not one of those chain stores) and have him troubleshoot it for you.

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful
