Toyota Repair: 1993 Tercel Head, head, blown

Question
I just pulled the head from my 1993 Tercel and all 4 cylinders are full of coolant. Why?
I had the head rebuilt at a local machine shop and bought new gasket set from the same place.
When I put it all back together and torqued to spec it was pouring oil from valve cover and head.
I have 221350 miles on the car.

Answer
When you say they rebuilt the head, what did they do (and not do!).  Did they check for warpage?  Did they mill the head at all?  Did they check for cracks?
What is the condition of the block?
Water in the cylinders indicates either a problem with the head gasket, the head or the block.  When you say you torqued to spec, did you torque in the proper sequence, which is vitally important.
Did you get a new valve cover gasket?  Did you ensure the old gasket material was all removed?
There are many things that could cause your problem.  I need more info!

Thanks,
Vince
