Toyota Repair: transmission, toyota celica gt, toyota celica

Question
Hi, Ted I read most of your answers but I couldn't find one like mine I just baught a 94 toyota celica gt 2.2L A/T, that had a bad transmission I don't know what's wrong with it but it's worth to ask you a question before I change the tranny the car doesn't go forward neither in D,2 or LOW but it works fine in reverse, do you think it has bad shift solenoids or worn clutches, is it fixable or it's time for a new tranny if so will the camry's fit mine your help is appreciated

Answer
It's basically transmission internal failure, it's not worth repairing attempts which would probably exceed the cost of just replacing it. Camry transmissions will work as long as the trans model numbers are the same, some of the celica's sensors on the trans etc may have to be switched over to the replacement trans.
