Toyota Repair: heat blower fan stopped working, amp fuses, fuse boxes

Question
1997 4Runner, 6-cyl 4WD, auto transmission,120K miles without any previous problems.   Two days ago when needing to defrost the windshield and heat the interior of the car, there was no response when turning on the fan.    No indication of it runnnig at all from what i could here or feel.   I looked at both fuse boxes, none of which indicated a specific fuse for the fan.  I did check about 4-5 fuses, none of which were blown.  Question:  does this sound like simply a fuse problem and if so, what else would operate on the same fuse that would clue me into which fuse it would be by the lable, possibly of the other component than the fan?   Would it be part of the 60amp fuse labeled for the heater?   If so, is this fuse simply pulled out like the smaller amp fuses?   THanks, Jerry K

Answer
The 50A heater fuse under the hood in the fuse box applies 12v directly to one side of the blower motor at all times, the motor operates by the switch grounding through a resistor that provides the different fan speeds. This fuse can be pulled out of the fuse block, the 10A gauge fuse inside on the lower left of the dash provides 12v directly to one terminal of the heater relay, the relay is switched on as soon as the dash switch is turned to any of the fan speeds, the gauge fuse also supplies power to the dash gauges so if there is no problem there then the fuse should be ok. Most of the time the heater blower motor is the problem, it caqn be tested in the car by removing the connector from it, it's under the glove box, then apply battery voltage to either terminal on the motor and ground the other terminal, the motor should spin at high speed.
