Toyota Repair: 2001 sequoia transmission, toyota sequoia, leak check

Question
Hello, I have 2001 toyota sequoia  when i put in in drive first thing in AM or when its been sitting I go to put it in drive and it does not engage. So, I let it warm up a little and then will engage in gear.  I have had to put in reverse , then drive and then it will go.

Answer
The first thing to do is to check the transmission fluid level,do this at operating temperature in idle and in park, add fluid as necessary and recheck operation, check for a transmission leak, check the condition of the transmission fluid on the dipstick, put a drop on a white sheet of paper, if the fluid is dark and smells burned it's a sign of transmission slipping or loss of internal hydraulic pressure.
