Toyota Repair: Lights (All inside lights, and tail), fuse panel, toyota corolla

Question
QUESTION: When I turn on my lights, the headlights come on but the tail lights do not. When I press the brake, they come on but go off when I release the pedal. Also all my gauges do not light up, neither does the shifter area or the climate control. What is the cause?

ANSWER: The first thing you should do is to check the fuse inside marked "tail" it's located in the fuse panel in the left side of the dash, to be more specific I will need to know the year and model.

QUESTION: All of the fuses are good, and the problem still exists. It is a 1989 Toyota Corolla SR5.

Answer
Check the tail light bulbs and sockets, check all the electrical connectors and the ground wires, also make sure that the bulbs are correct and not mixed up, some of them have two contacts and some only one. If a testlight is available disconnect the main connector coming from the front and see if the green wires have voltage with the headlight switch on, if yes then the problem is in the rear, if not then the problem may be the combination switch or an open circuit.
