Toyota Repair: 1993 Toyota Celica ST Antenna problem, antenna mast, power antenna

I have a 1993 Celica that I just bought.  The antenna mast doesnt exist anymore and the person before me has stuck a small piece of copper pipe where the old antenna used to be.  I am wondering if its possible to scrap the old power system and just go to a fixed manual antenna?  Or how hard is it to replace the old antenna mast and power unit?  Could you please explain the process to me, I would greatly appreciate it...the current setup is a painful eyesore lol.  Thank you.

The power antenna can be removed and replaced with either a factory non power antenna(recommended) or a universal one from an autoparts store(pep boys, autozone etc.)remove the chrome round nut on top and the 10 mm bolt inside and disconnect all the electrical connectors, install the new antenna and connect the antenna lead from the radio.
