Toyota Repair: Camry Fluid Change, dexron, autoparts store

Question
Hi Ted, I have a 2007 4Cyl. Camry. The owners manual says to change the coolant after 100,000 miles.  The dealers say to change it every 2 years. Is this a money making scheme?  Why would GM say to change it at 100K if this is detrimental?  The antifreeze is the pink stuff. It's $23 dollars a container at the dealer.  Can anything else from auto supply be used? What about the transmission fluid?  Can this stay in for 100K miles?  Is it the same as Dextron? Thanks, George

Answer
The antifreeze is super long life which toyota recommends to change at 100,000 miles, it also uses WS(world standard) transmission fluid which is also good for 100,000 miles, that's the factory recommendation, the dealer's recommendations may differ according to enviromental and driving conditions. The WS fluid is not compatible with dexron, however there are some fluids which are compatible, check with your local autoparts store.
