Toyota Repair: 89 toyota truck, toyota truck, engine overhaul

hello ted, i'm new to this but im lookin to buy a 89 toyota truck 4cl i have not looked at the truck yet but the owner says it runs great that the only thing is it burns oil i know these trucks r prone to do so but he said he drives 250 miles and in that it will burn one quart... ? sounds like alot to me what do you think ? he's asking 1800 thanks ! !

Well at least he's honest in telling you that it uses oil, yes that's too much, a quart in 1,000 niles is good, a quart in 500 miles is acceptable but in 350 miles there is a prodlen and you're probably looking at doing an engine overhaul down the road that may cost another $2,000.
