---------- FOLLOW-UP ----------

QUESTION: 1993. it does have a check engine light and it does come on but i took it to autozone who has one of them machines to hook it up but they only checked 96 and up. they said they didn't have the right thing to check mine and there wasn't any where else to take it.

Answer
The first thing to do would be to find out why the check engine light is on by getting the trouble code, you can do this yourself, locate the diagnostic connector under the hood on the right side near the battery, open the cover and locate the terminals TE1 and E1, the terminal diagram is inside the cover. Turn the key on and put a small jumper wire between those two terminals. The check engine light will start to blink, each code will have two numbers, if it blinks twice followed by five it would be a code 25, there will be a short pause and it will either repeat the same code or add more, write the codes down and then let me know what you find.
