Toyota Repair: 1995 toyota rear struts, rear struts, spring compressor

I have gotten the rear struts out but I can't get the new ones back in.  What is the trick of getting them back in with the spring compressors on. There doesn't seem to be enough room to get the struts up in the spot.  Any tricks to help?

What we do is remove the entire strut with the springs, then compress the spring and remove the strut, install the new strut to the spring and then install the strut after the compressor is removed, I know of no way to install it with the spring compressor still on.
