QUESTION: My 05 scion tc is idle flaring during start up.  How do I correct this problem?

QUESTION: No.  The check engine light is not on.  Does this car have an idle speed
sensor that can be cleaned?

Answer
The most common cause is  excessive carbon in the throttle body, it doesn't use an idle air control valve, usually removing the air intake hose and cleaning the inside of the throttle body with the throttle plate wide open takes care of idle problems, use spray air intake cleaner and a nylon brush to remove the carbon.
