Toyota Repair: toyota camry vienta V6 97, toyota camry vienta, 30 amp fuse

Question
QUESTION: im not too familiar with this car im trying to help someone with it, but to get straight to the point, the thermostat housing, is this the housing off the top hose of radiator?(with the pressure cap) and in the fuse box under bonet, "fan no1" fuse spot, should that have a fuse in it? ther seems to be a couple fuse missing so wasnt sure about if they are meant to be there or not. im basicly trying to get to the bottom of an overheating issue, had the radiator replaced and engine flushed. still runs fine, no visible water in oil.

ANSWER: The thermostat is located on the "right side" of the engine when standing in front, follow the lower radiator hose up and you will see the thermostat housing. Whether there should be a fuse there or not depends if it has electric cooling fans, if so then yes there should be a 30 amp fuse there. Some camry models used a hydraulic powered fan, you can tell if this is so, there will be some pipes behind the radiator going to the fan.

QUESTION: Hi, ok thanks for the location of thermostat, yes it does have an hydraulic fan, seems to be running very slow, does this sound correct or should it be going fast like a normal fan?
thanks again mate.

Answer
With the engine warmed up to operating temperature it should spin at maximum speed, the fan is controlled by hydraulic pressure from the power steering pump, the pressure is regulated by an electric solenoid mounted to the power steering pump, make sure the electrical connector is still on the solenoid.
