Toyota Repair: gear shift, emergency button, gear shift

2004 Camry, 4 cyl
Gear shift will not lock in Park. You do not have to push the button on the shifter or brake pedal, to take it out of park. Tried the emergency button, and it is not stuck.
There is a small catch, when trying to put it back into park.
You do have to push the button, when shifting from drive into reverse.

Answer
This normally due to somrthing that was spilled into the console causing the shift interlock system to stick, remove the shifter cover and spray the inside with a soap/water solution on to the moving plastic parts, do this while moving the shifter, the parts should free up and go back to normal.
