Toyota Repair: intake & EGR, vacuum hoses, egr system

Question
Hello Ted.My truck had a total rebuilt engine .When I installed it ,I noticed it had a EGR system on it.Which my engine didn`t have before.I`ve looked at lots of manuals and they show 1981 models without EGR system. Yet i can`t seem to find detail pic or info on how to restore to original or on how to revove EGR system,,,I`ve tried yet it allways makes engine run bad..Before i got this engine the previous one had no EGR and no polution stuff on it. Any help or pics of 1981 engine would be appreciated ,,thx in advance  from a toy  nut with a passion.

Answer
The EGR valve is normally closed so it should not make a difference unless it is activated by connecting the vacuum hoses, if this model doesn't require an egr system then I see no point in restoring it to have the system. The egr valve can be left in place and it shouldn't cause an engine performance problem because it's not working.
