Toyota Repair: Engine noise till warmed up, piston slap, master technician

Ted, 2006 4cyl se camry auto- Excessive engine noise(much worse when starting temps below 30 deg.) till it fully warms up. worse when accellerating. Sounds like a piston slap, was wondering what you thought my chances of getting help form toyota were? We bought it new and it has 80k on it. The dealer has done all the maint.If no help available would you tear it down? Thanks, John

Without hearing the noise I can't say what it may be, these engines normally last way past 80k miles so this seems very unusual,what did the dealer say the noise may be? At this time I would not tear the engine down without getting a professional opinion from a toyota certified master technician first.
