Toyota Repair: Corolla issue, reputable repair shop, simple tests

Question
I recently had trouble starting my 2001 Corolla. After repeated attempts it finally turned over. I brought it right over to the dealership. I thought maybe something got lose when they replaced my headlights the week before. They told me not only the battery needed to be replaced but also the starter! Shouldn't I have had warning signs with the starter? This was the first time I had trouble starting my car.

Answer
Maureen,

It would really help if I knew how many miles are on the vehicle !
2 or 3 things don't go bad at the same time, just a money making scheme! First thing to do is check the battery post clamps are tight and clean for clean. Ask around and find a reputable repair shop other than a dealer or a tire store ! Someone you can trust to check the battery and starter. They are simple tests.
