Toyota Repair: 1995 T-100 Check engine light on, obd2 code reader, head gasket problems

Question
QUESTION: Blinking Check engine light on. Had checked with OBD1 said misfire. But come to find out we have 3RZFE engine which is an OBD2 should I have it rechecked with an OBD2 code reader? We'd change plugs, rotor, coil, and fuel fitler and still has check engine light on and truck still runs rough(engine jumping) doesn't die. What should we do next? thanks, scott

ANSWER: Have you ever had head gasket problems and or replacement?

QUESTION: Have never had head gasket problems with the truck(no replacement ever done). Motor did not get hot. I drove 125 miles that day, stopped to eat, got back in truck to start back home, started the truck up then problem started. Engine missing/rough shaking. Truck never got hot on the way home. Last nite, I took the truck to an auto zone, had it read with an OBD2 reader, said misfire on cylinders 2,3 and 4.(Truck is a 1995 T-100 4 cylinder engine). Like to not made it back home 12 miles. Truck died a couple of times in AutoZone parking lot but started back up and was able to get home. We have changed plugs, rotor, fuel filter and coil. The guy at auto zone said it may be the fuel pump. Haven't had a chance to pressure check fuel pump system or compression check on cylinders. Thanks Scott

Answer
I do understand that your truck didn't overheat. However, due to poor head gasket design, Toyota had a major head gasket campaign to replace ALL head gaskets on the V-6 engine to be covered under warranty. This means that head gaskets fail without overheating. You might want to contact a Toyota Dealer to see if they will honor that job for you.
