Toyota Repair: Tacoma driver side break/running light, lens assembly, running light

Question
Mr. Ritter, recently I had to replace the lens assembly on the rear driver’s side, of my 2008 Tacoma due to an accident. I bought a new lens assembly from a reputed Toyota dealer on the Internet. I installed it without problems and everything seemed to be working fine, but the other day, at night, somebody notice that when I hit the brake pedal the running light on the driver’s side goes off, and there is no break light either. It goes completely off. When I remove the feet from the break pedal the running light comes back on. I checked the bulbs and the connections and everything seems to be in order. Thanks for your assistance.

Answer
This normally happens because a bulb and socket are not matched, be sure that the single contact sockets have a single contact bulb and the multiple contact sockets have the correct bulb with two filaments, if that's not the case then there is a wiring problem that may be due to the accident.
