Toyota Repair: 2005 sienna whines on acceleration, differential gears, powertrain warranty

Question
why why why?  this whining has been going on for several years and I have taken it in to Toyota Modesto for 2 visits and have them ride with me and they are telling me it is normal.  How can it be normal when it did not do it for the first year and a half.  It is so embarrassing when driving in the slow lanes of school, church, in my work parking garage, you can really hear it loud in there, a high pitches whine, on any acceleration.

Answer
A high pitched whine noise is normally caused by the differential gears, there should be another toyota dealer in the Modesto area so I would get another opinion, it definetely doesn't sound normal to me if you find the noise objectionable, keep in mind that the toyota powertrain warranty is good for 5yrs/60,000 miles, the dealer you are now going to may just be trying to get you to go away so they don't have to fix it under warranty.
