Toyota Repair: Rack and Pinion seals, toyota avalon, rack and pinion

Ted, is it dangerous to drive a toyota avalon 1998 with leaking rack and pinion
seals. I plan to get it fixed....but dont know how "URGENT" it is.  It leaks on my
garage floor, I add fluid 2 times a week.  I thought it was my P.S. pump, but my
service shop said it is the Rack and pinion seals leaking. It ROARS when its cold
and the fluid is low. They said my P.S. pump was fine.   HOW URGENT IS THIS ?

It sounds like it's pretty urgent if you have to constantly add fluid and it's leaking on the floor, there is also a safety factor to consider if power assist is completely lost. I wouldn't advise driving it very much until the steering gear unit can be replaced.
