Toyota Repair: 93 camry wont start, volt meter, driving at night

Question
Tested the battery. 12.4 volts. It's not the battery. can't start engine. there is power, but headlights don't work, power door locks don't work. when I try to start, hear a noise in the console. power fluctuates on warning lights. as soon as i try to start, power goes down. engine won't even crank. is this a sign of a bad alternator? remember when driving at night headlights would fluctuate when I pressed brakes. Also noticed clock would reset & radio would reset. but it stopped after a while.

Answer
Patrick,
A good fully charged battery will have 12.6 volts.
The battery could be week, need to attach a multi-meter
and check volts while some turns the key, if it drops way down
its the battery. You can also hook a battery load checker up and
see what the voltage drops to. try jumping the car. When it starts
put a volt meter on the battery while its running, if it shows less
the 13 volts the alternator is shot.
