Toyota Repair: 94 4runner tranny, toyota 4runner, clutch pack

Question
i have a 94 toyota 4runner with the 3.0 v6, and automatic tranny. lately it has not been starting out in first gear froma stop like it should. i checked the transmission codes and got code 62 which is the no. 1 solenoid. im told that the solenoid is above the valve body. is this true? also, i asked a transmission shop and they said it could be a clutch pack going bad. any ideas? one other thing, where are the electrical connections for the solenoid?

Answer
The transmission shop is probably correct, in most cases the solenoids fail because of a restriction which may be caused by either metal particles or clutch material, transmission problems are very common on these 4 runners, the electrical connections are all inside the transmission, I would recommend removing the transmission oil pan for inspection for any oil contamination.
