Answer
I don't know of any shim kits that are available, the shims are only available individually from the toyota dealer, there are about 30 different thicknesses and they are not cheap( about $8.00 each)the valve clearances have to be checked and the ones that are out of adjustment the shims have to be removed and measured and then calculated what thickness is needed to come up with the correct setting, very time consuming. I would like to offer the following advice, I have seen lots of tight valves on this engine which causes a misfire, this probably why the check engine light comes on. Do a compression test and see which cylinder is low, this is the one that has the tight valve, you can then concentrate on that particular cylinder, it's normally cyl#1, the rest should be ok, then check the #1 valve clearances and remove the ones that are too tight and go from there, you may only need two shims since only the exhaust valves tend to go tight.
