Toyota Repair: Yaris 07 Auto Transmission Leaking, hub caps, cement floor

Question
I have a 2007 Yaris Hatchback with 64,000 kms. My transmission suddenly stopped working.  I checked the transmission fluid level and it was low. I always park in my garage with a cement floor and there are no external leaks. I put one litre of toyota transmission fluid in and the transmission started working. After a short time driving in my yard, I checked the fluid level and it was low again. I checked the engine oil level and it was overfull. What is going on?

Answer
Hi there,

Your car is a 2007 car. I am certain that you have at least a 3 year bumper to bumper manufacturers warranty. If you say that there are no visible leaks, I believe you; however, your trans could have a slow leak and it's just being blown on the on the bottom of the vehicle as you drive. I recommend that you take your car to a dealer at once to document this problem. If they determine that there is no leak, my first guess would be that your car was delivered to the dealership with a low trans fluid level. I think it's possible that your car did not receive a sufficient PDI (Pre-Delivery Inspection). During these inspections, the lube technician installs hub caps, removes the protective plastic film from the outer portions of the car, checks fluid levels, make sure it has fuel, tire pressure...ETC before it is placed on the lot for sale.

Anyways, there are times that vehicles are delivered to dealerships with low fluid levels. I can't be certain of course because I wasn't there in your specific case, but the main thing is to have your car checked and documented of this problem right away.

Thanks!
