Toyota Repair: My 1992 previa, jumper wire, diagnostic check

Question
I just bought a 1992 previa w/ 140k miles on it. The idle is very low and will
drop out completely if left- There's a brake light coming on (on the dash) when
I accelerate and now the check engine light has come on. Any idea what might
cause this?

Answer
Since the check engine light is already on and the computer has stored a trouble code I need to know what that code is, you can do this yourself by doing the following: Make a short jumper wire about 3 inches long, locate the diagnostic check connector by lifting up the driver's seat, just fold it back, the check connector is next to the seat, open the lid of the connector and find the terminals TE1+E1, put the jumper wire between these two terminals and turn the key on, the check engine light will start to flash and this will tell you the code, it's a two digit code, if it's a code 25 the light will flash twice and then five times, it will either repeat or reveal more codes, there is a short pause inbetween each code, let me know what you find out.The brake light may be caused by low brake fluid under the hood in the reservoir.
