Toyota Repair: Toyota Paseo Clutch 1992, clutch master cylinder, toyota paseo

Question
While riding home today I was unable to put it into 1st gear with the clutch in. I noticed the fluid in the master was empty. I refilled the fluid and had the car towed to the house. The clutch pedal came up from the floor just alittle and it seemed like it was going into gear alittle better while the engine was cold. The car has 230,000 miles on it and the clutch redone at 167,000 miles.
Do you think it is OK to drive like this or should we adjust the clutch somehow? We have maintained the car throughout it's life. Please give me your opinion on what we should do. Thank You

Answer
If your clutch master cylinder was empty, some air may have gotten in the line. You will want to bleed the system to make sure there is no air in the line. There is no way to adjust the clutch with a hydraulic system. Fill the system, clean the area around the master cylinder and the slave cylinder. You will want to check for leaks since your reservoir was empty. It might be necessary to replace the master and slave cylinders if they're faulty.
