Toyota Repair: Starting, camry v6, electrical problem

Question
I own a 98 camry v6. When starting the car, sometimes it will start and then die emmidiatly after. When that happens I have to keep trying to start it and after about 3 or 4 times it will start. During the 3 to 4 times that I try starting the car, the starter makes an unpleasent noise. What could be the problem? Car has about 115k.

Answer
Your starter heats up after tring to start any engine after long cranking times. I don't know what "unpleasant" noise you're talking about, but it could be that the battery is weak, your starter is worn out, or there are flywheel problems. Your engine starting problem could be a fuel problem, fuel filter problem, fuel pump problem, electrical problem...the list goes on. You need to have someone do a visual inspection and any further testing as necessary to completely diagnose your problem.
