Toyota Repair: 83 Celica, 22re engine, fuse box

Question
QUESTION: I have an 83 Celica. A while back i had parked my 83 Celica 22re engine in my back yard. I told my 14 year old son to start it, he charged the battery and then the car wouldn't start. It's been a while since then and now he finally told me he had put the wires negative to positive and positive to negative, and that he had out the charger to give 24 volts.    What can putting the jump wires backwards cause to the car electrical system? By the way the charger hasn't worked since then.
If i spray a little bit of gas in intake the car starts for very few seconds.

ANSWER: Connecting a charger backwards or jumping the battery backwards will blow some fuses, check the fuses under the hood in the fuse box, check to see if there is an alternator fuse marked 80A, if not look for some large white wires connected to the positive battery terminals, these are fusible link wires, they will burn out on the inside, these wires are available at the autoparts store, they may need to be cut and spliced in with new wires, do not use regular wires, they have to be fusible wire of the same diameter, they are normally about three incehes or so in length from the battery, after that they are normal copper wire.

QUESTION: Could that problem cause relays to go bad?
How can i check my EFI relays.
Because the car attempts to start if i spray gas in the intake manifold.

I have Voltimeters!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also can i check if the fuel pump gets VOLTS from somewhere in the trunk or do i have to

remove the fuel tank?

And i searched online for the fuses locations and the cover on the fuse box under the hood

reads that my fuses aren't in the same place as the website read.   What do i go by the

website or the cover? The weblink is below

Answer
Use the cover for the fuse designations, the fuel tank does not have to be removed to check fuel pump voltage, I don't have much information anymore for an '83 model, there is a fuel pump check connector under the hood, it's yellow and has two terminals, putting a jumper wire across the two terminals with the key on should power up the fuel pump and let it start, if not the fuel pump may need to be replaced.
