Toyota Repair: timing, page 2a, valve gear

Question
i have a 93 camry 2.2 i changed the waterpump and when the timing belt was off the valve gear got moved forward how do i get that and the crankback aliged do i have to pull off the valva cover and adjust them if so will i have to put the crankback to tdc first

Answer
Jim,
First thing I want you to do is get a Chilton or Haynes(#92006 page 2a-9)  repair manual. There is a little mark on the Camshaft
gear which you line up with the mark behind it. All you do is rotate
the camshaft clockwise until they line up, use a socket on the bolt.
The Crank is the same way, rotate it clockwise until the mark lines
up at top dead center, now the belt can be put on. Adjust and tighten the tensioner once the belt is on rotate the engine clockwise 2 times and make sure both marks line up exactly, if not re-align.

Let me know.

Tim.
