Question
After running fine yesterday, our car won't start today.  I changed out use spark plugs, and installed a new air filter, to no avail.  When changing the spark plugs, I could smell gas on the plugs, so I know it's getting gas.  The car turns over, but does not start.  I jumped the battery to make sure it was not a 'weak' battery, and still no start.  What would you recommend?

Answer
First check to see if there is a spark at the spark plugs, remove one of the plugs and connect the wire to it, make the metal part of the plug is grounded to any metal part of the engine, crank the engine and see if there is spark at the spark plug electrode, if not remove the distributor cap and check the coil, check to see if the coil is cracked or burned, if the coil is not the problem then the distributor could be the cause which is a common problem on the corollas.
