Toyota Repair: 1996 toyota camry, r 134 freon, toyota camry

Question
I have a 96 toyota camry. The air conditioner is blowing hot air and I can hear the compressor running. What is wrong, also, does this car have freon in it? Can you give me an indea as to how much this would cost to repair.

Answer
The a/c system uses R-134 freon, since it does not cool the freon may have leaked out due to a leak in the system, about the only thing you could do yourself is to get a can or two of freon from an autoparts store or K-Mart that comes with a fill valve and hose and follow the instructions to add the freon, if it starts to cool then there is a leak in the system which should be located and repaired, this is when a qualified a/c technician should be consiulted to disagnose the problem.
