Answer
What did the dealer say as to why doing what they recommended did not fix the problem, any explanation? I would suggest first that you return to the dealer and ask them to remove the part and refund you the money you spend or fix the problem, it was obviously misdiagnosed, you should contact the service manager or if necessary the general manager at the deler and let them know that you were charged parts and labor which did not fix the problem. This model has onboard diagnostic abilities and should log a diagnostic trouble code or two in the cruise control computer, knowing the trouble codes will give the technician a place to start following instructions in the repair manual, it seems this was not done and it also seems that someone just took a best guess when they told you it needs the ecu. In any case I would recommend that you first contact the service manager or the customer service rep at the dealer, I can't be of too much help even if I knew the trouble codes because there are too many things that could cause this problem but you can reply and let me know what the codes are just in case, I might be able to give some insight as to what to do.
