Toyota Repair: 1996 Geo prizm, spark plug wires, 1996 geo prizm

My neighbor drove my 1996 Geo Prizm through a big puddle doing about 15 mph and it didnt stall because he put the clutch in on time. but the check engine light started blinking and then stayed on. could the water have short circuited it or anything?

Answer
The engine light blinking indicates an engine misfire is detected, remove the spark plug wires and see if water got into the spark plug tubes which will short out the wires. Also remove the distributor cap and check for any water inside and on the wire terminals.
