Toyota Repair: PO606 code, cpu failure, service bulletins

Question
QUESTION: The the car is a 2005 Camry LE, engine is a 4 cyclinder, automatic trans., 78,000 mi.  Check engine light was on and I got it read.  Well it says PCM processor fault (PO606).  What does this really mean? And where do I find the ECM?  How would I go about reparing this besides buying a new ECM?  Can I just buy any ECM that is of the same year?

ANSWER: What it means is that the ECM has a CPU failure but don't worry, you should contact the toyota dealer and have them diagnose it again because the ECM has a warranty period of 8yrs/80,000 miles and you will get it replaced at no charge unless there was some outside influence like an accident or flood that caused the damage to the ECM.

QUESTION: We are the 2nd owner of the car, does this warrenty still apply to us?  Well here is the problem, we took it to a toyota dealer and they wanted to charge us $1100 for a new ECM.  Where does it say that the ECM is covered for the period fo 8yrs/80,000 miles? How do I find the informaiton about this?

Answer
A change of ownership doesn't void the warranty, there is no specific service bulletin for the po606 but the repair manual specifically states that if that code is set the ECM has to be replaced, there is no other option, contact the toyota dealer and have them look in the warranty coverage guide book and show you what it states about ECM coverage, my book is at work and I can't look it up until tomorrow(saturday). In some cases where service bulletins are involved the coverage for the ECM is 8/80 under federal emission control warranty.
