Toyota Repair: Pinging, scan tool, compression test

Ted, based on my origial question (7/24/07) regarding pinging on a 2000 Tacoma, V6, 89K, no check engine light on and loss of power. You suggested a compression test which I did. All specs are within 10%. I'm at a loss as my scan tool shows no codes. Higher octane does nothing. Any thoughts. Thanks.

I have trouble understanding why there would be no check engine light or diagnostic information with all of this going on. Would you be willing to have another repair place or the dealer try to retreive codes, if there is an autozone store they will do it at no charge, it's possible that your code reader is not picking up all of the codes since there are constant software updates.
