Toyota Repair: Sunroof, control switch, battery replacement

Question
Out of the blue our Highlander sunroof would not close.  The dealer is saying it is the cables, and he is quoting anywhere from $3000-$5000....This is outrageous, we have 42,000  miles that is it

Answer
I would recommend going to another dealer if possible, that price is totally unreasonable, if the cables are the problem(which I doubt) they can be replaced seperately and the cost should be around $600 parts and labor. Get another opinion if possible. It may just have to be reinitialized depending on what year Highlander it is, or it may just be the control switch. What year Highlander is it? Is the sunroof stuck closed or open, does it move and then reverse itself or not move at all, is there a noise? Has anything been done to the car recently, battery replacement, jump started, anything?
