Toyota Repair: 92 Celica, bad gas milage+black smoke!, horrible gas, gas mileage

I swapped my old motor out of a 90 celica 5 speed into a 92 celica automatic. the engine ran perfectly in the 5 speed, then after swapping i was having trouble.There are no check engine lights. The car is getting horrible gas mileage, about 13 miles to the gallon. It is also blowing black smoke. I have already changed the cap,button,wires,plugs,and fuel filter. what can it be? please help.

if you're getting black smoke, you're getting fuel out of the exhaust..... you could have a timing issue, along with a list of other things....this is one of those that i'm going to need more info before a proper diag can be made...  i'd start with checking base ignition timing..
