Toyota Repair: 92 Toyota Camry XLE 4Cyl.4Door, toyota camry xle, speed sensors

Question
I recently got both my front axles changed. Immediately after I realized the ABS light was on. Unfortunately I had a rather long and important trip I had to go on and didn't have the time or money to handle it. Besides, the car wasn't acting strange at all except for the light being on. So the trip was about 1000mi round trip and when the car was turned off over night the light would go out until I'd start driving the next morning as soon as I hit the first bump in the road.I've experienced some occasional thudding of what feels like something is hitting the bottom of my brake petal. Like the brakes are catching on the wheels a bit. But it goes away as quick as it started. I was told to try unhooking the battery and re-hooking it up to see if my sensor was just broken. I asked the guy who worked on the car, he said it had nothing to do with the axles. I have the right axles on the car because he called to make sure they had the magnetic part that the sensor picks up on but I don't know if the car is safe to drive. If the guy is lying to me about the axles being connected to the sensor (saying he could have messed up the sensor while replacing the axles). Or if the wires somehow got loose. If you could please help me I'd be really appreciative.
Thanks.

Answer
Yes, it does sound like the sensors were "messed up" while it was worked on, I have seen this happen before, the wires for the abs speed sensors can be stretched too far when removing the axles and the ressult is that the wires break inside and cause the light to turn on, the diagnostic tool needs to be connected to see which sensor is damaged and needs to be replaced.
