Toyota Repair: Toyota Avensis VSC, new toyota avensis, toyota cars

Question
Hi Ted, I have a question related with my new Toyota Avensis 2.0 petrol. More specifically, I am very concerned with the sensitivity of my VSC system. I have made many tests making sharp right/left turns with more than 40Km/h. In all my tests, the car needs more than 600ms of slipping (i.e., lateral movement of more than 2 meters) before VSC is activated (beeps). In some tests, my front wheels were almost blocked (due to lack of traction and too much turning of the steering), yet VSC never activated (i.e., an extremely dangerous situation). Furthermore, in one REAL CASE (not in a test track), my car substantially oversteered(!) and I had to countermove the steering to regain control, yet VSC did NOT activate. All these cases and tests indicate to me that VSC does work but with an unbelievable low sensitivity. My local Toyota dealer electronically tested the vehicle and found no problem. They also told me that parameters of VSC cannot be tuned. So, my question is whether you thing that my Avensis VSC is working fine. If VSC allows the car to slip (lateral movement) more than 2 meters, then it is almost useless.  (Note: I know that Avensis is not sold in US so if you do not have documentation on Avensis, please just use your experience from other Toyota VSC implementations on other Toyota cars). Thanks...

Answer
Unfortunately we have not received this model yet and I have not had the opportunity to even test drive one yet but I think that what you are experienceing could very well be normal because if there was any malfunction of the VSC or ABS system there would be a warning light on the dash that turns on, there is one recommendation that I would suggest that you may try, see the toyota dealer and tell them about the complaint again and then ask them to drive an identical avensis with either a technician or the shop foreman/ service manager present and see if the other car behaves the same way or not.
