Toyota Repair: 2002 Toyota Avalon, mass air flow sensor, mass air flow

Question
the check engine light stays on, the VSC light stays on . I changed the gas tank cap . what do you think? Thanks

Answer
hi dale, that could be a lot of things.  if you get the code out of the ecu, i could probably tell you exactly what wrong.  the code will start with a "P" followed by four numbers (example-P0300, P0446).  we've seen a lot of different sensors fail on those models.  it could be an oxygen sensor, mass air flow sensor or evap system malfunction.  if you go to auto zone, they will pull your code for free and tell you what it is....the vsc light is on because the check engine light is on....
