Toyota Repair: cressida overheating BHG?, head gasket failure, temp guage

Question
1989 cressida 7mge with 184,000 miles.
I just purchased used and showed no initial signs of a bhg.
No cross contamination of coolant or oil.
I drove home after purchase 70 miles of interstate highway
with ac on and engine temp was normal until almost home and
temp guage climbed near red zone at first stop light.
Temp returned to normal once back to speed.
Another few miles to home and driving at slow speed causes temp to rise again with coolant boiling out of overflow.
After cooling down for an hour started engine and ran at idle for 10 minutes ac off and temp stayed normal.
Am I at the very early stages of head gasket failure?
Radiator, water pump etc have all been replaced within last 20 k miles.
Car runs excellent otherwise.
thanks Rick.

Answer
I would advise that you have it checked for a possible headgasket leakage problem, most auto repair shops or the toyota dealer can do this, it's a simple procedure that either uses a chemical test or an HC detection device such as a smog test machine.
