Question
hi .I have over 300 thousand miles on my car. ive been told if properly maintained the camry can go as much as 500 thousand..is this true.also it does sometimes die at stop signs. not very often any ideas ..thank you much...rose

Answer
I've not heard of any toyotas going 500K miles but it wouldn't surprise me, even though a car is meticulously cared for and all the required services are done there is still wear and tear on all the moving parts and some parts need to be replaced as time goes by. The idle problem and stalling is common on some toyota models especially the camrys, the idle air control valve is the most likely problem, it controls the idle speed of the engine, these can get carbon deposits on them and cause them to stick causing the stalling condition, the best way to repair this is to have the idle air control valve replaced and the throttle body on the intake system cleaned, this solves the problem.
