Toyota Repair: Water Leakage Problem through headliner, 2002 toyota camry, drain tubes

Question
I have a 2002 Toyota Camry that leaks water through the headliner everytime it rains.  I took it to Toyota in Brooklyn, NY and they realigned the sunroof. For about three months there was no water leakage, and now the past couple of rainstorms, the leak returned.  This frustrates me because at one point Toyota told me it was the windshield.  I doubt it because the way the rain comes through the headliner, it almost has to be the sunroof.
Is this common with sunroofs?

Please advise.

Answer
A common problem is that the sunroof water drain tubes either become disconnected or clogged up, the seal around the glass is not designed to keep all the water out, some water will get past the rubber seal in heavy rain, there are drain tubes that are supposed to let the water drain out of the channel in the roof. The drain tubes are attached to the sunroof rail, there are four, one on each corner, there are clear plastic tubes attached to the drain tubes, if one becomes disconnected or clogged up the water can't drain and it will enter the passenger compartment, it's easy to check for proper drainage, open the sunroof and start pouring water from a bottle into the sunroof channel, if the water doesn't drain the tube is blocked, if the water drains but leaks inside the hose has come off, the blockage may be cleaned out with a special tool that the dealer should have, if it leaks inside the headliner will have to be dropped down enough to see which tube is disconnected and yes, it's fairly common, if the dealer you are going to does not know what I'm talking about I would go to another one and have them check. You can print this reply and show it to them.
