Toyota Repair: 98 camry traction off warning light, traction control, scantool

Question
My owner's manual says when the "traction off" warning light stays on the device needs to be fixed by the dealer. Is the car unsafe to drive if this is not fixed?  What's a ballpark cost to fix it?

Answer
No, it's not unsafe to drive, it just means that the system is disabled and will behave as any other car without traction control. I have no idea what it would take to fix it without knowing what the trouble codes in the system are, is the "check engine" light on as well? You will need to have the computer connected to a diagnostic scantool to retreive all the trouble codes that may be stored in the onboard computer, you can get back to me and let me know what they are if you need me to help.
