Toyota Repair: Brake rotors for the front axle, toyota camry 1993, brake rotors

Question
Hi Ted,

I have 4 Cylinders Toyota Camry 1993 with ABS brakes.
I changed the brake pads for the Front axle sometime 4 months ago because they were running low. I did not get the rotors resurfaced that time.
I do feel the pulsing when I apply the brakes.
The rotor widths are as follows:
1.044 Inch
1.067 Inch
According the mechanic at the Toyota Dealership in town there is not enough thickness for resurfacing. He wants me to use brand new rotors. The thickness of the brand new rotor at Toyota dealership is 1.100 inch
The mechanist at independent machine shop specializing in resurfacing of rotors tells there is enough thickness for resurfacing. According to them thickness can be as low as 1.024 inches.
Also if I change the rotors should I be changing the brake pads also?
Please advise.

Thanks

P.S.

Ted please tell me how to reach you. It took me eight day to get opening for my question. Thanks Again.

Answer
The rotors can be resurfaced, keep in mind that the specification of 1.024" is the minimum thickness after machining the rotors, if it's less than 1.024" after machining, the rotors need to be replaced. Your rotors are very close to the minimum, one has about 0.020" and the other about 0.040" so if they can be machined and still be above the minimum thickness they can be reused.
