Toyota Repair: 98 Toyota Rav-4, toyota rav 4, engine cranks

Question
My 98 Rav-4 has 112000 miles, as I was driving down the freeway the motor became sluggish, about 30 seconds later the check engine light can on; about 10 seconds after that the engine died. The engine did not overheat and all fluid levels are normal. The engine will turn over but will not start, even after using starter fluid. All spark plugs spark when the engine cranks over. Please help.
Thank you for your time,
Daniel

Answer
If the timing belt has never been replaced I would highly suspect it as the probable cause, it sounds like the belt may have jumped on the gears because of wear, you will still get spark but it will be totally out of time to make the engine run. Check the belt by removing the top of the front timing cover, I think you will find the problem there.
