Toyota Repair: What is the OBD-II CAN ISO Standard used on the 2007 Camry V6 Gasoline auto?, kwp 2000, controller area network

Question
The CAN protocol I understand uses pins 7 & 14 for CN high and Low signals (J2284) in addition to power 16 and gnd 6.  The receptacle on the Camry has pins 4-6, 9, 12-14 and 16 populated.

I bought a handheld scanner (U581 CAN OBDII/EOBDII Memo Scanner (live data) that the manufacturer specifies it will read all 1996 and newer cars & light trucks that are OBD II compliant (including the VPW, PWM, ISO, KWP 2000 and CAN protocols)".

Specifically the protocol standards J1850 PWM, J1850 VPW, ISO9141/1430 and the ISO15765 CAN (Controller Area Network).

The scanner will read my 1994 Toyota V6 (it is OBD-II) and a 1998 Honda 4-cyl just fine.

Thanks for your service

Answer
OBD II came out around 1994, all scanners that are OBDII compliant will read the codes back to that year. Some of the later models that were produced after 2000 will have MOBD(multiplex OBD) which requires the CAN module which is also backwards compatible to read back to the 1994 models in the ADVANCED OBDII option on the scantool, hope this answers your question.
