Toyota Repair: will not run, jumper wire, diagnostic check

Question
I own a 1994 pickup with 173,000 miles. It ran fine until a month ago when it stalled in 5th gear at low rpms on 1/8th of a tank of gas and the check engine light came on but restarted quickly. It stalled again 3 days ago in a heavy rain storm in the same situation. It will start and run for 3 seconds max( but not always)then die.I cleaned the cap and button, replaced the efi relay and put fresh gas in it without results.Help.

Answer
It would be helpful if I had the code number from the computer that turned the engine light on, use the diagnostic check connector under the hood, open it and find the terminals TE1+E1, they are labeled in the cover, put a small jumper wire between them and turn the key on, the check engine light will flash giving you any codes that may be stored, there will be a two digit number code, for instance a code 14 would be one flash of the light followed by four with a pause before the next code, if the light flashes at the same frequency there are no codes, let me know either way.
